This holiday season, Steeg Law once again continued the firm’s annual tradition of participation in Catholic Charities “Adopt a Family,” a gift-giving program to help families in need.
Jan LeBlanc, who is a paralegal at Steeg Law, organizes the firm’s participation each year. “This holiday season marks the 19th year the firm has partnered with Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of New Orleans (CCANO). CCANO works with families in crisis year-round. During the holiday season, CCANO connects these families with organizations or individuals seeking to share the spirit of the season, making the holidays special for those who need a hand. So we, in essence, “adopt” that family.”
This year, Steeg Law adopted two small families for a total of five children ages 10 years to six months. All participating staff are asked to choose one family member for gift giving. Inevitably, most staff select more than one family member, and in some cases, all family members, for gift giving.
The customary “Gift Wrap Luncheon” was held on December 11th in the firm’s large conference room. This year, 92 individual gift boxes and bags were wrapped or filled. In addition, the firm raised $620 for the purchase of Walmart gift cards for the family’s current and future needs. Once packaged for delivery, 14 extra-large, personalized lawn bags were filled for delivery to our adoptees.
Jan has been told by one of the coordinators that she believes Steeg Law to be one of the longest, continually participating partners in the program. Without question, the firm looks forward to continuing this successful and rewarding tradition.
