CCANO health bagsThis holiday season, Steeg Law and Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of New Orleans (CCANO) continued to partner for the benefit of those in need in the greater New Orleans area through the organization’s Adopt-a-Family program.

Over the last few years, the “Health Bag” concept has become very popular with the recipients that register with CCANO for assistance. In practice, the firm purchases and provides reusable tote bags. Each participating staff member fills a tote bag or bags with basic health and wellness items to include soaps, bath sponges, body wash, towels, toothbrushes and toothpaste, dental floss, mouthwash, cotton balls, body lotions, shampoo, socks, combs/brushes, towels and other toiletries. Typically, these items take a back seat to the basic needs the disadvantaged are tasked with acquiring on a daily basis so, these “Health Bags” are coveted and greatly appreciated.

The firm delivered 20 bags for a specific male or a specific female recipient, each tied with seasonal ribbon and hand delivered for pickup.

Making a difference for those in need is the essence of what the season encourages in all of us.

Further in the spirit of giving, we could not fail to recognize a newly formed family unit within our firm family, headed by a single female who has acquired custody of her three nephews ages 13, five and three. Members of our staff purchased and wrapped personalize gifts for each of the boys, and our attorneys contributed cash so the firm could purchase a total of $575 in gift cards from Wal-Mart, Winn Dixie, and Academy.

As we look back on another successful holiday season here at Steeg Law, we are encouraged by what we accomplished. But we also look forward to continuing the tradition we have come to revere.
