This is a reminder that owners of properties containing one to three rental residential units must file their certificates with the City of New Orleans under the Healthy Homes Certification Program between January 1, 2025, and February 15, 2025.

As outlined more fully in our firm’s previous article about this program, “New City of New Orleans Registration Program For Rental Properties,” the Healthy Home Certification Program requires the owner of each building containing rental residential units to file a fairly extensive certification, attesting to the manner in which the building and its residential units meet certain health and safety standards. Previous deadlines under this program were February 15, 2024, for any building with 50 or more units, and July 1, 2024, for any building containing between 4 and 49 units.

Now, owners of buildings containing one to three residential rental units must file their certificates between January 1, 2025 and February 15, 2025. Failure to do so is a violation of law under the Healthy Homes Ordinance of the City.

Information about the Healthy Home Certification Program can be found here.
