Profile
Margaret V. Glass is a partner at Steeg Law. Her practice focuses on real estate transactions, including commercial and residential sales, leases, financing and entity organization as well as landlord-tenant law, condominium law, and zoning and land use. Prior to joining Steeg Law she worked as a litigation attorney in Louisiana and Texas, gaining experience in insurance coverage, construction litigation, title curative litigation and condominium-related litigation.
Margaret is known for being both detail-oriented and pragmatic, strengths that help her devise creative solutions to difficult problems. Clients note that she is pleasant to work with, prompt and effective, even when she is addressing complicated and time-sensitive issues.
Representative Transactions and Cases
- Represented owner/operator of local entertainment venue in zoning/land matters, lease of facility, and contracts with vendors and entertainment partners prior to the grand opening of the venue
- Represented purchaser of 20+ acres of batture property in Orleans Parish in acquiring property with seller financing and securing a subdivision of the property in connection with the purchase
- Represented landlord in renegotiation and amendment of lease of brewery space
- Represented owner of major cultural museum facility in New Orleans in securing Restoration Tax Abatement for the facility
- Represented condominium association in drafting and adopting amendments to condominium documents to provide for remote meetings in light of COVID-19
- Obtained preliminary injunction in favor of condominium association enforcing rule requiring the wearing of face masks in public areas against unit owners who refused to comply
- Represented property owner in obtaining a nonconforming use determination for multi-family property
- Represented purchaser in the $5.6 million acquisition of an historic, inner-city property (former public school building) in New Orleans, Louisiana
